Crackdown on illegal trade yields arrests, seizures worth K84.307M

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to prevent and combat the illicit trade are continuing effectively in accordance with the law.
On 21 and 22 July, a combined team led by the Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections. It seized one unregistered Mitsubishi Triton vehicle and two unregistered Daihatsu Hijet worth approximately K38 million near the Yadanabon Bridge checkpoint. Additionally, 150 cartons of Tiger beer and three other undocumented commodities valued at approximately K10.44 million were seized near Ywahtaung Ward in Sagaing Township. The action was carried out under the Import/Export Law and Excise Law.
On the exact dates, a combined team managed by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized 1,200 kilogrammes of apples from China and other commodities worth K3.942 million, along with a Mitsubishi Fuso Bus valued at K30 million, near the Shwe Thanlwin Toll Gate in Phayagyi. They also confiscated 2.135 tonnes of illegal hardwood and 3.480 tonnes of other woods valued at K1.925 million in the Toungoo District. The action was taken under the Import/Export Law and Customs Procedures.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that on 21 and 22 July, seven arrests were made, leading to the seizure of illegal goods worth approximately K84.307 million. — MNA/TMT
