COVID-19 virus found from repatriated sailors in Kawthoung

Those 17 crew members who were infected with the virus were evacuated from the quarantined hotels to the private ward of the District Hospital by ambulances of Kawthoung Township Charitable Organization and the Red Cross.

A Rapid Diagnostic Antigen Test Kid (RDT) test was conducted in Kawthoung, Taninthayi Region on 4 July, and 17 hotel-quarantined crew members were diagnosed with COVID-19 positive said officials from the District Public Health Department.
“Almost every day, people are infected with the virus in the form of domestic infection in the recurrence of COVID-19 virus. Crew Change is being carried out in the Andaman Sea near Kawthoung, where foreign airlines have been suspended due to the outbreak of the virus,” said Kawthoung District Hospital medical Superintendent Dr Lin Htike.
“There have been some cases of the virus in the crew, but today’s large numbers are the first to be discovered,” Dr Lin Htike added.
