Supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illicit trading across the nation.
During inspections on 25 June, the combined Customs on-duty teams captured two kinds of goods worth K36,176,868, including 1,331.51 square metres of clear float glass from China that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from two containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port and three kinds of goods valued at K122,880,492, including 1,786.08 square metres of clear float glass from China that were different from the ID from four containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On the same day, the combined teams seized two trucks (approximately K75 million) heading to Yangon from Mandalay, carrying K48.3 million worth of 12,500 kilogrammes of Monosodium Glutamate from China without official documents at the Ywathagyi Dry Port. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 26 June, a combined team captured illegal teak weighing K0.376 tonne and illegal timber weighing 0.652 tonne valued at K263,566 in Bago and Pyay districts, 3,967 various sized of iron pipes and 305 sticks of iron sticks valued at K234.840 million without official documents in Sagaing township and an unregistered Kenbo 125 worth 300,000 in Kalay township. The action was taken under the Forest Law and the Export and Import Law.
On the same day, the combined teams impounded illegal timbers weighing 2.337 tonnes and two three-wheel motorbikes in Thayat and Magway districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 19 arrests were made on 25 and 26 June, with an estimated value of K525 million. — MNA/MKKS
