Community forest founders meet in Mohnyin

The Nature Greening Development Assaociation held a workshop on establishment of community forests at the Dhammayon of monastery in Kwingyi Village, Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, on 4 January, attended by 100 founders of community forests.
Assistant Community Forest officer U Saw Tauk Tun gave talks about an important role of public participation in biodiversity conservation in Myitkyina, Waingmaw, Sawlaw and Mohnyin townships of Kachin State, technological assistance for establishment of community forests, disbursement of small loans to the founders and production of energy-saved stoves.
Member of National Greening Development Association U Thauk Kyar recounted his experiences on study tour to Indonesia and community forest founders in Mohnyin Township, their experiences in group and challenges.
A total of 25 groups of forest founders have planted over 4,000 acres of forests in Mohnyin Township.
