Commerce Ministry discusses crop export with local traders

The Ministry of Commerce organized a meeting to ensure regular export of rice and beans although there are some difficulties from the outbreak of COVID-19.
The meeting on video conferencing between its offices in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon yesterday were attended by Union Minister Dr Than Myint, his Deputy Minister U Aung Htoo and Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Kyaw, together with the members of UMFCCI, the Myanmar Rice Federation, and the Myanmar Pulses, Beans and Sesame Merchants Association.
Discussions at the meeting were food security and self-sufficiency, stability of price and increasing income of farmers, issuing licences for export of rice and broken rice, local transport, difficulties at the ports, and requirement of certificates for free of bacterial contamination.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
