Announcement on legal actions against election-law breakers


1. A special police inspected Daw Nu Nu Win, a polling station representative of Union Solidarity and Development Party-USDP, outside the Polling Station No 6 in Area 10 of Damingon in Asin Village-tract, Ye Township in Mawlamyine District, Mon State, and seized two unofficial stamps – one with ‘UEC’ mark and another with no ‘UEC’ mark – from her.
2. According to the Union Election Commission’s investigation, three Hluttaw candidates of People’s Party in Kyone Maram Village-tract in Kyonpyaw Township, Pathein District in Ayeyawady Region – Pyithu Hluttaw candidate for Kyonpyaw Township U Aung Kyaw Lwin, Hluttaw candidate for Kyonpyaw Township’s Region Hluttaw Constituency 1 U Than Ngwe, and Hluttaw candidate for Kyonpyaw Township’s Region Hluttaw Constituency 2 U Mya Thaung – are found making false accusations against Township Election Sub-commission and Village-tract Election Sub-commission to stop voting and election.
3. It is investigated that Ma Pont Pont, who lives in Ward No 8 of Maubin Town, Maubin District in Ayeyawady Region, voted twice – once at the Polling Station No 2 of Win Myittar Housing in Ward No 7 and another at the Polling Station No 1 of Ward No 8.
4. It is hereby announced that the suspects Daw Nu Nu Win, U Aung Kyaw Lwin, U Than Ngwe, U Mya Thaung and Ma Pont Pont have been charged with Criminal Law Section 420/468 and Hluttaw Election Law Sections 58 and 59 at the respective police stations.
