Three alley gardens will be opened between 32 street and Sule Pagoda road, between 31 street and 32 street, and 31 street and Bo Soon Pat street in Pabedan Township in December, according to Doh Eain.
Designed to allow people to lead a healthier life, the three alley gardens will be opened in December in the lower block of Pabedan township by Doh Eain, in cooperation with the local residents, the ward and township administrators, the municipal committee, and Hluttaw representatives.
Currently, a survey is being conducted and the designs for the alley gardens are being discussed with the alley gardens maintenance committee and local residents.
Taking note of the scarcity of public recreation places in Yangon region, Doh Eain is creating alley gardens for people.
The project was initiated in July, 2016 on 27 street (lower block) of Pabedan township, with the aim of creating recreational spaces out of garbage dumping sites and to bring people together.
Alley garden projects are being implemented with 80 per cent funds contributed by donors and 20 per cent by the public. The projects are being undertaken in cooperation with companies and embassies. Eight alley garden projects have been implemented so far to promote healthy lifestyles and make Yangon beautiful.—GNLM
