AFF U-19 Championship to commence on 17 July

The AFF U-19 Championship 2024 in which Myanmar U-19 men’s football team will take part will be held in Indonesia starting from 17 July.
All 12 countries which are members of the ASEAN Football Federation will take part in the championship. Football teams from these countries will be involved in three groups. The top teams from three groups and the best second-placed team, totalling four will advance to the semifinals.
Group A comprises host Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Cambodia and the Philippines. Group B consists of Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Australia. Group C is formed with Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Brunei.
On 17 July Timor-Leste will face Cambodia whereas Indonesia will take on the Philippines as openers. Myanmar will play against Vietnam on 18 July, Laos on 21 July and Australia on 24 July.
Players of the Myanmar U-19 team are under the training of Head Coach U Aung Naing. The team will leave for Indonesia on 16 July. Those players have been taking training since early this year. The team played tune-up matches with football clubs from the Myanmar National League. In the last week of May this year, the Myanmar U-19 team held two warm-up matches with the Chinese U-19 team in China. — Ko Nyi Lay/TTA
