Monks, nuns and students under school arrangements to enjoy admission free, service personnel a 50-per-cent discount fee
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the leading donor for the Maravijaya Buddha Image, stressed the need to keep necessary materials as reserve in maintenance for the image if necessary, at the meeting related to the Buddha image at the image board of trustees’ office in Maravijaya Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township yesterday afternoon.
The Senior General highlighted that as no more architectural masterpieces from Maravijaya Buddha Image can be found anywhere, maintenance tasks must be undertaken for the image in detail.
He underscored that it is necessary to consider the maintenance of the Maravijaya Buddha Image with the appointment of staff for carrying out maintenance, security measures and supply of electricity. The Buddha Image board of trustees must be formed under the prescribed rules and regulations, he added.
As part of environmental conservation, the Senior General urged all to carry out greening tasks around the Buddha image and thriving Maha Bodhi banyan tree and other plants.
Adviser to the SAC Chairman Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, Lt-Gen Kyaw Swa Lin from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), and Brig-Gen Zaw Naing Oo reported on management for maintenance and renovation of the image, e-ticket for visiting the image, free visit for monks, nuns and students under school arrangements, 50 per cent discount for service personnel, formation of relevant bodies, the image board of trustees, screening a recorded video by drone, preparations for building religious edifices, placing tiles, growing of flowery plants, shade trees and windbreaks, and sanitation tasks.
Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Lt-Gen Kan Myint Than from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Deputy Minister U Aye Tun and Nay Pyi Taw Command Commander Brig-Gen Wai Lin also presented reports on completion of security gates, upgrade of Myat Mingala road, compilation of the technological record book and design book, formation of Ovadacariya Sayadaws for the image and security measures.
In his response, the Senior General gave guidance to emphasize the convenience of staff in transport and control consumption of electricity due to the installation of solar power bulbs. The Senior General disclosed that admission fee will be collected from visitors to the Buddha image after 3 September for raising the fund to be spent on the existence and beautification of the image.
The Senior General viewed round the platform of the image, Gandakuti chambers, the water fountain square, and the Agga Dhipati Sasana Beikman.
The consecration of the Maravijaya Buddha Image, hoisting umbrellas atop stone plaque chamber pagodas and sharing merits gained took place on 1 August. Members of the Sangha and people have been allowed to visit the Buddha image from 8 August. — MNA/TTA
