A team of specialists gives treatments to children under five in Magway

A specialist team from Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw General Hospitals in collaboration with medics from Magway General Hospital performed medical treatments for residents in Magway township, Magway Region on 12 and 13 August.
During their two-day visit, the medical team provided treatments to 75 patients with heart diseases, 34 gastroenteritis patients, 76 neurologic patients, seven neurosurgical patients, 63 diabetes and hormonal patients, 12 patients with hematologic disorders, 22 patients with liver disease, 133 patients with physiological conditions, and 96 orthopaedic patients, totalling 518.
They provided healthcare services to the patients and transferred a patient with heart disease to Mandalay General Hospital and another patient who need to undergo neurosurgical treatment to Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital.
Dr Ni Ni Hlaing, Professor of Diabetes and Hormonal Conditions, talked about diabetes to local people.
On 12 August, 80 children under the age of five who did not receive any vaccination were vaccinated with bOPV, IPV, MR, and Penta and 33 more children on 13 August at Magway General Hospital and 44 another children also received similar vaccinations at the hospital in Minbu Township.
Similar programmes have already been conducted in Cyclone Mocha-hit Rakhine State, and Ayeyawady Region as well as Shan State and this initiative will continue to be implemented in other regions and states in the future. — MNA/TH
