Bomb blast derails track on Yangon-Mandalay railway in Pyu Tsp

The RGC89 rail vehicle, which departed for security patrol from Nyaungbintha Station of Pyu Township located on Yangon-Mandalay railway, faced mine-attack yesterday afternoon near Mile Post 132, between the telegraph pillars No 5 and 6 by the terrorists using a remote mine. The RGC-89 derailed, and thus, passenger and freight train transport was delayed.
The regional authorities and security forces rushed to the scene of the incident and investigated the area. The Myanma Railways staff pulled up the derailed structure to reopen the railway section as quickly as possible.
Due to the explosion, three feet of the iron track in the east of the Up train railway and three feet of the track in the west of the Down train – which is currently under upgrading project were damaged, and No 1Up Yangon-Mandalay train and No 11Up Yangon-Mandalay passenger train encountered delays on their schedules. Likewise, No 903 Uptrain had to wait at the Pyuntaza Station at 7:05 am. Repairing process finished in the afternoon. The railway section located between Pyu and Nyunglaybin was then reopened, and the train schedules resumed.
Since 1 February 2021, terrorist groups have been perpetrating 171 mine attacks and explosions within railway areas and stations, 79 blasts on railway bridges and station yards, and 16 instances of blazing stations and employee housings. Their terror acts are aimed at destabilizing the rule of law and endangering the safety of travellers. However, the government prioritizes maintaining smooth and comfortable travelling services for the public. — MNA/TMT
