A plan which will provide paddy seedling and fertilizer with interest-free has been arranged for paddy fields which are required to re-grow due to being flooded, said Myanmar Rice Federation chair U Ye Min Aung.
There were heavy rains due to the climate change, left nearly 1 million acres of rain-fed paddy plantation were flooded. Seedlings are required to re-grow after they got damaged by flood, therefore necessary assistances have been planned by both the government and MRF, he said.

“Paddy is a crop which is able to withstand the flood to some extent. It doesn’t need to do much in some areas where water dropped. But seedling fields need to re-grow if they got damaged in flood. To fix it, the government provides aids which are needed and at the same time, rice millers, companies and our MRF has also planned to give necessary assistances. We have made a preparation to provide interest-free financial assistance for seeds and fertilizers if there are submissions along with proper statistics. And we will give free just like donating for some areas which have been in very tough situation. We will provide helps by properly scrutinizing,” he said.
Scrutiny has been underway on submissions for list of paddy fields which are needed to re-grow, he said. Not all flooded paddy fields are not possible to get damaged and can save them by giving nutrients and fertilizers if they are not infected, he added.
