Some Facebook/ TikTok pages that are deceiving on passport and consular services.

Scammers and Facebook/TikTok account owners who have been cheating Myanmar citizens in Malaysia in passports and consular services will be identified and punished, according to the Myanmar Embassy in Malaysia.

Consular notifications, lists of permitted nationals for new passports or applicants who lost theirs and C of I issues are posted on the Embassy’s Facebook Page “Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia” and Website: https://myanmarembassykl.org, the embassy said.

Statements on making fraudulent documents required for passport and consular services were found on Facebook/Tik Tok such as national scrutiny card, household certificate and endorsement.

Myanmar nationals are advised to present correct and true documents for consular services and warned of wasted time, money and losses if they use fake documents which won’t be accepted by the embassy. Applicants may seek advice at respective embassy counters regarding this issue.

Individuals and Facebook/TikTok account owners who are deceiving Myanmar citizens will be investigated and taken action in accordance with the law, it said. As the Malaysian government has beefed up Operasi measures to eliminate illegal migrants across the nation, the embassy has informed Myanmar citizens working in Malaysia to be careful about their movement during this period and if they have to travel, they should carry their passports and necessary documents with them so that they can be presented when there are Operasi checks.
