Illegal trade crackdown seizes goods worth K265.96M in early August

Under the supervision and control of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, illegal trade is being effectively combatted in accordance with the law.
On 6 August, a combined team under the management of the Customs Department conducted inspections at Yangon Airport (warehouse) and seized 44 vials of laboratory fragrance oil samples from Singapore, one engine generator controller from the United Kingdom (estimated value is K2.8 million) was confiscated, and the action was taken in accordance with Customs procedures.
Similarly, on 6 and 7 August, a combined team under the management of the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections. It seized 6,060 packets of Wai Wai instant noodles from Thailand, 24,000 bottles of Mistine whitening lotion, 450 20-litre cans of VAS vegetable oil from Indonesia and other commodities (estimated value of K113.64 million) at the Myitnge inspection station, one Sunlong bus, one Mitsubishi Fuso truck and one Isuzu Giga truck carrying these items (estimated value of K148 million). The action was carried out in line with Customs procedures.
In addition, on 7 August, a combined team under the management of the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections and seized 1.73 tonnes of illegal teak (estimated value of K1.52 million) in Toungoo District, and the action was taken under the Forest Law. The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that ten arrests were made on 6 and 7 August, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods worth approximately K265.96 million. — MNA/TKO
