FDA warns 48 unregistered hazardous cosmetics for safety risks

The Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning against 48 unregistered cosmetics as it identified they contain hazardous substances and chemicals that are harmful to health.
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Health, FDA has been supervising the market systematically to ensure the quality of cosmetics that are considered safe for use. According to the Post-Marketing Alert System (PMAS) Report, the 42 cosmetics made in the regional countries were found unregistered and containing toxic substances and prohibited chemicals that are unsafe for use.
Those prohibited chemicals can cause skin irritation, swelling, rash, numbness, muscle cramps, fatigue, headaches, dizziness and depression. Long-term exposure to those substances can also result in kidney failure and other chronic diseases.
Thus, cosmetic importing companies, distributors, wholesalers and retailers should not distribute unregistered and unsafe cosmetics. The relevant authorities will take legal action against them under Section 3, Stanza 3(D) of the Public Health Law for non-compliance. — NN/EM
