Fair rice reference prices for August released

The fair rice reference prices for the month of August for 108 pounds/24 pyi  Shwe Bo Pawsan first grade is set at K 145,000 per bag, according to the rice reference prices released by the Consumer Affairs Department, the Ministry of Commerce.

Those who sell at a higher price, incorrect quality and who fail to abide by the regulations will be prosecuted under section 5 of the Essential Goods and Services Law and effective measures such as fines and taxes will be imposed, so millers, merchants and shop owners  are seriously advised to follow, said the Myanmar Rice Federation.

According to the fair rice reference prices statement for August for 108 pounds/24 pyi bags, the groups of coarse export rice (Aemahta/ Ngasein) including Sinthukha costs K 68,000 per bag of 25 per cent; K 75,000 for a 50 kg bag of 25 percent export rice; K 70,000 per bag of 15 per cent; K 77,000 per 50 kg bag of 15 percent export rice; K 72,000 per bag of 10-5 per cent rice; and K 80,000 per 50 kg bag of 10-5 per cent export rice.

A bag of 10-5 grade rice which is exported and consumed locally, including Ziya and Ngwetoe, is set at K 87,000 per bag, those produced from Yangon Region including Phantee Thukha at K 98,0000 and 10-5 per cent from Ayeyawady at K 100,000 per bag.

Rice varieties from upper Myanmar such as Mandalay, Sagaing and Magway are set at K 130,000 and K 120,000 per bag for the first class, K 115,000 per bag for the second class and others at K 110,000, K 130,000, K 145,000 and K  140,000 depending on the brand.

In addition, other specifications include K 3800 per kilogram of Shwe Bo Pawsan as a fair market price for sales with consumer packaging in shopping centres (Super Market, Mini Mart, Grocery), K 3,300 per kilogram of Ayeyawady Pawsan, K 2500 per kilogram for Ziya, Manawthukya and K 3500 per kilogram for Ayeyarpadetha.
