Myanmar, Sri Lanka to promote sector-wise cooperation

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and General Kamal Gunaratne, Secretary to the Defence Ministry of Sri Lanka, discussed the exchange of trainees between the two Tatmadaws.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing recounted that Myanmar held the Fourth Meeting of the National Security Chiefs of BIMSTEC with active participation from all member states.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka, at the Office of the SAC Chairman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
At the meeting, they cordially discussed friendly relations between both countries, bilateral cooperation in diplomatic relations, and religious affairs. They also focused on the exchange of trainees between two Tatmadaws of both countries and the enhancement of cooperation.
They also exchanged views on the promotion of cooperation in the economic development of the two countries, holding the Fourth Meeting of the National Security Chiefs of BIMSTEC by Myanmar and its active participation in the meeting together with other Member States, emphasizing further promotion of cooperation in all sectors between the two countries.
Also present at the meeting were Council Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for the Ministry 1 of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office Admiral Moe Aung and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka was accompanied by Mrs Ponnamperuma Arachchige Prabashini Ponnamperuma, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Myanmar, and officials. — MNA/TTA
