Strictly avoid vaping among young people

Vaping, also known as e-cigarette use, has become popular among youths globally, including in Myanmar. Despite its widespread appeal, many young people overlook the significant health risks associated with vaping.
E-cigarettes use a solution that includes hazardous elements like nickel, chromium, and lead. Experts and scientists caution that these elements can easily enter the lungs through the respiratory tract when vaping, leading to severe health risks. A study by the Canada Health Centre revealed that vape solutions contain arsenic, mercury, and cadmium in acceptable amounts but also higher levels of other harmful chemicals. Unapproved vape solutions may have over 100 times the lead content compared to approved ones. Additionally, unsafe vape equipment can exacerbate the dangers due to chemical reactions induced by heat.
E-cigarettes function by heating nicotine extracted from tobacco, along with flavourings and other chemicals, to create an inhalable aerosol. Traditional cigarettes contain around 7,000 chemicals, many of which are toxic. The use of e-cigarettes has been linked to a significant number of lung injuries and deaths. In February 2020, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 2,807 cases of e-cigarette or vaping use-associated lung injury (EVALI) and 68 deaths related to this condition.
Nicotine, the main component in both regular cigarettes and e-cigarettes, is highly addictive. E-cigarette users can sometimes intake even more nicotine than those using traditional tobacco products. This is because users can purchase extra-strength cartridges with higher nicotine concentrations or increase the e-cigarette’s voltage to enhance the nicotine hit.
Vaping, like cigarette smoking, offers no benefits to the body’s organs and poses risks to both users and those exposed to secondhand smoke. Vaping and smoking harm everyone in the vicinity, contributing to a decline in overall health and socioeconomic conditions due to the costs of these habits and their adverse health effects.
Given these facts, it is crucial to strictly avoid vaping among young people to protect their health and well-being. The popularity of vaping among youths is alarming, and the misconceptions about its safety need to be addressed. Awareness campaigns and stricter regulations on e-cigarettes could help mitigate the growing public health issue. By understanding the dangers and acting accordingly, communities can safeguard the health of their young members and promote healthier lifestyles.
That is why all youths in Myanmar need to avoid test-smoking and vaping in their lives. As scientists have found findings about the disadvantages of vaping, youths should not spend their precious time vaping. They need to pay their young age in other work processes beneficial for society.
