PDF terrorists attacked Tatmadaw camps, township police stations, and other security camps with a substantial force in Singu, Mandalay Region, in the first week of July 2024.
PDF terrorists then arrested and killed local people, forcibly extorted money, destroyed and burnt houses and government buildings to disrupt administrative routines, planted mines, stole belongings from displaced residents, and committed other violent actions.
Therefore, almost all residents and government staff were displaced from Singu due to terrorists. Those who opposed terror acts organized defence teams, and Tatmadaw mobilized them for Counter-Terrorism Operations.
Subsequently, Tatmadaw units advanced into Singu, gaining ground gradually via both water and land routes. After advancing and repelling terrorists with heavy weaponry, terrorists retreated. Yesterday, Tatmadaw gained control of the town.
PDF terrorists had attacked security forces while hiding inside religious buildings, schools, government offices, and homes and had also planted mines on public roads, using local people as human shields. In response, security forces acted in line with the Rules of Engagement (ROE).
However, before withdrawing from the town, terrorists set fire to homes and buildings and planted landmines.
