Kampaiti border trade achieves 44% of trade target in mid-July

The trade value at the Kampaiti border between Myanmar and China as of 13 July has reached 44.008 per cent of the overall trade target for July, the Ministry of Commerce’s statistics showed.
The Kampaiti border is expected to meet a target of US$5 million in July 2024, comprising exports worth $4 million and imports worth $1 million, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The actual trade value between 1 and 13 July was $2.2 million, comprising exports worth $0.659 million and imports worth $1.54 million, performing over 44.008 per cent of the trade target.
The main export items at the Kampaiti border were tissue-cultured bananas, dried chillies, onions, dried mango slices, fresh areca nuts, black cardamom, various pulses, tamarind with seeds and aluminium scrap. Meanwhile, Myanmar imports capital goods, intermediate goods, construction materials, consumer goods, fruits and fuel oil.
There is a regular trade flow on the Kampaiti-Waingmaw-Myitkyina trade route without transport hurdles such as mountain road collapse and road blockage. A combined team, including one-stop service agencies and departments concerned, is making efforts to ensure smooth trade flow and bolster exports. — TWA/KK
