RTAD to conduct vehicle inspections before registration, renewal

The Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) released an announcement that safety checks and vehicle inspections must be done prior to renewing registration of taxis, school buses and rental vehicles of above two tonnes.
To ensure road safety, RTAD renewed vehicle registration for public transport vehicles after checking vehicle types and vehicle specifications (bodies, parts). RTAD renewed other cars and motorcycles without inspections.
Starting from 22 July, taxis, school buses and vehicles of above two tonnes will undergo vehicle inspections while renewing.
Additionally, post-trip vehicle inspections can be undertaken at RTAD’s respective offices except for those in Yangon and southern and northern Mandalay.
However, Loikaw, Lashio, Kyaukme, Muse and Kawkareik offices will not process post-trip vehicle inspections for those vehicles registered at other offices.
Furthermore, private vehicles and commercial vehicles of below two tonnes, motorcycles, three-wheel cycles and trailers will be exempted from vehicle inspections. They can proceed to renewal processes according to their registration documents until 30 September 2024.
Owners of motorcycles, three-wheel cycles, and trailers can apply for vehicle entry permits in certain areas without vehicle inspections. — NN/KK
