The Republic of India donated telecobalt therapy machines (Bhabhatron II and Digital Radiotherapy Simulator) to Yangon General Hospital (YGH) on 18 July for vulnerable cancer patients in Myanmar who need radiotherapy treatment.
Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win received telecobalt therapy machines from India’s Ambassador to Myanmar Abhay Thakur at the handover ceremony of Bhabhatron-II and digital radio simulator held at YGH on 18 July 2024.
India designed and developed a telecobalt unit, Bhabhatron II, which is an advanced radiation therapy for cancer patients, which is accepted as an effective treatment modality among various cancer centres in India and abroad.
