An aftermath view of the bridge destroyed by KNLA and PDF terrorists.

PDF insurgents, aligned with NUG/CRPH and certain pro-terrorism ethnic armed groups, have been perpetrating attacks, destruction, arson, and sabotage on government offices, schools, residences, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure. Their actions aim to destabilise national security and undermine the rule of law.
On 17 July, KNLA and PDF insurgents detonated explosives on reinforced bridge No 1/137, measuring 10 feet long and 40 feet wide, designed to bear loads of up to 60 tonnes. Located between Mile Post 136/2 and 136/3 on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Union Highway, the bridge is situated 100 metres north of Kayinlayseik Village in Thaton Township, Mon State.
These attacks deliberately target non-military infrastructure, disrupting regional peace and impeding transport and commerce. Such acts constitute war crimes.
The highways and bridges departments swiftly constructed a temporary bridge, restoring passage. Efforts are underway to expedite repairs on the destroyed bridge. — MNA/TMT
