SAC Member DPM MoTC Union Minister inspects Ayeyawady Region

SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister MoTC Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo meets departmental, personnel and town elders in Pathein, Ayeyawady Region.

State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, accompanied by Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win, Deputy Minister U Aung Myaing and officials, inspected the Panhlaing riverbank erosion prevention and riverbank maintenance works in Nyaungdon Township of Ayeyawady Region on Saturday.
During the inspection, the director-general and relevant officials of the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems reported on a three-year plan for riverbank erosion prevention works conducted last year, and ongoing work plans.
Then, the Deputy Prime Minister and party observed the Ayeyawady River water level near Danubyu and the retaining wall construction site in Zalun and made proper instructions.
They also proceeded to river bank erosion-affected villages and losses of farmlands due to changes in the current of the Ayeyawady River in Aeikpyat village-tract in Hinthada Township and discussed measures to prevent riverbank erosion with the relevant officials and locals.
At noon, they inspected the railroad section from Hinthada to Khamauksu railway stations and repair work on historic Satumukha Stupa, which was destroyed by Ngawun riverbank erosion, near Laymyathna.
Moreover, they observed the cleanliness, strength of rail and rail speed along the Khamauksu to Pathein railway stations.
On 14 July, they checked the cleanliness and plans for recreational sites at Pathein Strand Road.
Then, they met the staff of relevant departments at the Ayeya Shwewah Hall and gave the necessary instructions.
At noon, they inspected the conditions of railway stations, bridges and riverbank area along the Begayat-Einme-Hlaingthaya project site, which was suspended in 2016-2017, and left necessary instructions. — MNA/KTZH
