Japan to recruit over 1,400 Myanmar workers

Up to 400 Japanese companies will provide jobs for more than 1,400 Myanmar workers, the Myanmar Embassy to Japan said in a statement on 15 July.
The statement mentioned that about 440 demand letters that the embassy submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after verification until 3 June 2024.
It further said that more than 400 Myanmar male workers and more than 900 Myanmar female workers, totalling over 1,400 would be recruited.
The embassy has carried out timely verifications of demand letters received from the Ministry of Labour via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, added the statement.
It verifies whether labour supervisory companies and factories or companies which offer jobs in Japan are officially established or not, and re-submits its findings and remarks to the Ministry of Labour through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it added.
In a statement issued on 28 June, the embassy said up to 380 Japanese companies would employ up to 1,300 Myanmar workers. — MT/ZS/ED
