Effective seizure of illegal goods in various states and regions

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to prevent and prosecute the illicit trade continue effectively in accordance with the law.
On 8 July, a combined team managed by the Magway Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections at the checkpoint of Magway Township. They seized one Toyota Mark II and one Hijet valued at K12 million. Legal action was taken under the Import and Export Law.
On 9 July, a combined team managed by the Kachin State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections at the 21-mile combined checkpoint in Myitkyina. They seized 60,000 kilogrammes of nitric acid and 30,000 kilogrammes of sulphuric acid valued at K9.36 million, and one CAMC tractor head and one Volvo tractor head valued at approximately K28 million. Legal action was carried out in accordance with the Prevention of Hazard from Chemicals and Related Substances Rules. The team also seized 55 gallons of gasoline and seven gallons of diesel in Moekaung Township, which was valued at K1.5 million.
On the same day, a combined team under the Kayin State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force inspected near Htepoekalon Village on the Myainggyingu-Shwegun-Hpa-an Road and seized a total of 1,396 containers of 18-litre palm oil worth K100.512 million and one Nissan Diesel truck with an estimated value of K35 million. The action was taken in line with Customs procedures. On the same day, another team under the Shan State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force inspected and seized four commodity items, including two China-made car front windscreens with an approximate value of K1.81 million near the Sinphyu checkpoint in Muse. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Additionally, another combined team under the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force inspected and seized two unregistered Honda Click-160 motorbikes valued at K14 million at Laytaisin checkpoint on Taikkyi-Phaungyi Road located in Taikkyi Township. The action was taken under the Import and Export Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 12 arrests were made on 8 and 9 July, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods worth approximately K538 million. – MNA/TMT
