MoH Union Minister leads Yangon diarrhoea prevention efforts

Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win holds talks with medical officials and personnel for Yangon diarrhoea prevention yesterday.

Union Health Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win convened a meeting on 9 July at Yangon General Hospital Learning Centre. Attendees included hospital superintendents, department heads from the University of Medicine 1 (Yangon), district and township health officials, and representatives from private hospitals.
Critical discussions focused on preparing hospitals for severe diarrhoea cases, outlining patient and family responsibilities, enhancing infection prevention measures, and ensuring timely reporting to regional health departments.
Later, the Myanmar Private Hospital Association president and attendees deliberated on disease prevention and treatment strategies, with the Union minister providing guidance.
In the afternoon, the Union minister and the Yangon Region minister for Social Affairs addressed a conference hall meeting, reviewing current severe diarrhoea prevention efforts. Directives included distributing water purification tablets and bleach powder, providing treatments to contacts, and preventing further infection spread.
Health department officials, hospital heads, and ministry officials attended the session. Meanwhile, public health initiatives across the Yangon Region continue, involving chlorination, distributing health materials, and raising awareness through posters and pamphlets in collaboration with local administrations and social organizations. — MNA/TKO
