Myanmar, Thailand ink MoU for joint power projects

Officials from CAG Engineering Co Ltd from Myanmar and PEA Encom Co Ltd, I Power Co Ltd, R & J Co Ltd, Mega Prime Group and Z Carbon sign an MoU at Inya Lake Hotel, Yangon, yesterday.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony took place in Yangon’s Inya Lake Hotel at 4 pm yesterday. This signifies a collaboration between Myanmar and Thailand’s energy engineering sector companies.
It was signed between CAG Engineering Co Ltd., one of the CAG Group of Companies, which is the Individual Power Producer of Myanmar and technical expert companies from Thailand’s power industry: PEA Encom Co Ltd, I Power Co Ltd, R & J Co Ltd, Mega Prime Group and Z Carbon.
An agreement was signed with Thailand to pursue a range of renewable and traditional power sources. This includes exploring solar, wind, hydro, and natural gas power generation projects. Additionally, an initial memorandum of understanding was established to collaborate on geothermal power generation in the future potentially. This comprehensive agreement signifies a significant step forward in ensuring a more secure and diverse energy future for both countries.
CAG Engineering Co Ltd is an independent power producer (IPP) company that is in charge of Myanmar’s solar energy development. They are the primary force behind five solar power generation projects with a combined installed capacity of 210 megawatts. The first of these projects, boasting an impressive 90 MW capacity, has already been successfully implemented in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, and the projects are slated for implementation across various states and regions in the country, including Ayeyawady, Mandalay and Magway Regions, and southern Shan State. — Arkar Linn/TRKM
