This is time for providing care to coffee plantations in monsoon, so that their coffee beans will get better price in next months, said coffee growers.
Removing weeds and nourishing the soil need to be carried out for coffee plants in monsoon season.
“Generally in monsoon, we have to take care of coffee plants. Removing weeds and fertilizing the soil need to be done quickly even when it is raining, and we have to hire external labour to do this. Our business includes from plantation to making finished product, so we are now busy in plantation while the finished product market is quiet. We need to take care of plants in monsoon so that coffee beans can get higher price and the production of beans will grow,” said Ma Khine Khine who runs KK natural brewed coffee and coffee beans trading from PyinOoLwin Township.
In this year, packaged coffee has gained high price though, raw coffee price has been sluggish.
“PyinOoLwin’s coffee market is good when tourist arrival is large. The market is slowing this year. Here, coffee price doesn’t get much high. But packaged products’ price gets high due to rising cost,” she added.
