Myanmar hosts 36th meeting of Myanmar-Thai Border Committee

Myanmar hosted the 36th Myanmar-Thai Border Committee meeting in Myeik on 28 June with the attendance of Lt-Gen Nyunt Win Swe from the office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Maj-Gen Naing Naing Oo, senior Tatmadaw officers, departmental officials and Lt-Gen Prasan Saengsirirak of Thailand.
Myanmar delegation leader Lt-Gen Nyunt Win Swe and Thai delegation leader Lt-Gen Prasan Saengsirirak made opening remarks.
The two leaders then had a documentary photo taken together with attendees, cordially greeted them and concluded the opening.
The meeting discussed the establishment of mutual trust, cooperation in border areas, anti-drug measures, and border demarcation, among others.
On the same evening, the Myanmar delegation leader hosted a dinner for the Thai delegation and representatives from the two countries to the meeting at the Pale Thander Hotel and exchanged gifts.
The second-day meeting was held yesterday at Pale Thander Hotel, and the two parties approved and signed the agreements drafted at the meeting and made remarks.
The Thai delegation visited the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw and famous pagodas and sites in Myeik. — MNA/KTZH
