People’s favourite poet, U Tint Lwin (aka) Tet Lu, a recipient of the Pakokku U Ohn Pe Literary Award, died Friday at the age of 84.
Tet Lu is a native of Salin, and about his death, friends from the literary community, including Wai Moe (Kyun Hla) and Shwe Myint Oo (Yangon), together with the Myanmar Writers Association, wrote on social networking sites that they will never forget the friendship they had with Tet Lu.
The peculiarity of the poet Tet Lu is that he wrote poems only throughout his life. His father is U Tha Oo, and his mother is Daw Ohn Kyi, residing in Kantha Village, Magway.
In 1982, he won the National Literary Award for the first time with a poetry book named ‘Htanaung Yeika Joe Kuthan’ (Sound of Dove in the Shade of a Reed Tree).
Again, he secured the National Literary Award for the second time with a poetry book named ‘Lann Hnint Pann Hnint Sakhanthit’ (Road, Flower, and New Camp) in 1989.
He also bagged the 30th Pakokku U Ohn Pe Literary Award for Lifetime Achievement this year.
At the time of his death, he was living at his youngest daughter’s home in Ward 16, Shwepyitha Township, and his relatives said the cause of death was his old age.
According to the literary community and close friends of Tet Lu, they will take care for his funeral. — TWA/KZL
