The walls, moats, and entrance to ancient Ketumati City in Toungoo Township, Bago Region, are preserved in their original style for public observation, as reported by U Nyo Myint Tun, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum.
The ancient walls near Sin Gate, on the western side of ancient Toungoo Ketumati City, has been re-excavated and preserved with funding from the Bago Region government.
U Nyo Myint Tun mentioned that the Yodaya gateway near the ancient city wall and Pachi Gate of ancient Toungoo Ketumati, including the moats and city walls built by King Mingyi Nyo, will be renovated and preserved in their original style, just as they were over 500 years ago.
In addition, the ancient city walls, moats, and buildings of Toungoo Ketumati, constructed by King Maha Thiri Zeyathura Mingyi Nyo (AD 1486-1531), will be preserved as cultural heritage. — ASH/MKKS
