Mandalay releases over 217M gallons of wastewater daily

The nine pumping stations in Mandalay Region pump out nearly 217.92 million gallons of wastewater per day in order to prevent flooding in Mandalay, according to the Mandalay City Development Committee (MCDC).
Pumping stations are constructed in downtown areas, adjacent regions, and at confluences and drains throughout the city to prevent flooding in residential areas of Mandalay during the rainy season.
The system operates by lowering the water level in the main sewer, allowing rainwater from the roads to flow into it before being discharged into the river by the pumping stations.
The nine pumping stations include Station No 1 near Shwetachaung Kakkyaw Pagoda, Station No 2 at Shwekenamkatinn, Station No 3 near Sangha Hospital, Station No 4 and 7 at Zaungkalay, Station No 5 at Thingaza Canal on 26th Street, Station No 6 at Nagani, Station No 9 at 64th Street Detention Pond, and the New Pumping Station near Shweke Village. — TWA/TKO
