Investigations underway to uncover truth regarding incident in which Win Neinmitayon Monastery Sayadaw from Bago passed away

On 19 June, a vehicle carrying Win Neinmitayon Monastery Sayadaw Bhaddanta Munindabhivamsa of Bago in Bago Region and Kanthonhsint Buddhism Learning Centre Sayadaw Bhaddanta Gunikabhivamsa from Mingaladon Township of Yangon Region was reportedly shot at between Myotha Town and Kamma Village in Mandalay Region. As a result, Win Neinmitayon Monastery Sayadaw passed away, while Kanthonhsint Buddhism Learning Centre Sayadaw and the driver sustained injuries.
However, on the evening of 20 June, it was noted that a video file of a statement by Kanthonhsint Buddhism Learning Centre Sayadaw Bhaddanta Gunikabhivamsa regarding the incident was circulating on social media. The initial report was based on information relayed through security forces, but the statement from the Sayadaw presented discrepancies with the initial report.
Therefore, necessary investigations are reportedly underway to disclose the factual circumstances of the incident. If the facts of the incident are revealed, appropriate action will be taken accordingly. — MNA
