Yangon strengthens trade, investment ties with Heilongjiang Province

Yangon City and Heilongjiang Province are committed to bolstering bilateral trade and investment when the Yangon Region chief minister met with a delegation led by the deputy director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Heilongjiang Province, the People’s Republic of China.
Yangon City is the commercial hub and the main port of Myanmar, handling the majority of export and import activities. Rice and various pulses are also grown in the region. The Yangon Region chief minister said that Myanmar wants to export rice and multiple pulses to the province. There are 29 industrial zones in the area, and Chinese investors primarily invest in the manufacturing sector.
Mr Li Shengbin, deputy director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heilongjiang Province, discussed investment and trade promotion matters between the two countries and cooperation in business and other fields.
Myanmar and China deepened the Swemyo Pauk Phaw friendship and nurtured the community with a shared future, sticking up for each other through thick and thin. Yangon Region Chief Minister expressed appreciation for China’s assistance in need during the Coronavirus pandemic and Cyclone Mocha, in addition to China’s contributions to the education sector. He also reiterated that the city would like to collaborate with Heilongjiang province to boost bilateral trade, investments and economic cooperation. — TWA/EM
