Taungthaman Bridge and Lake draw 100,000 daily visitors in rainy season

Local and foreign visitors visit the Taungthaman Bridge and Taungthaman Lake daily during the rainy season, with approximately 100,000 visitors coming, especially on holidays, according to U Soe Win, secretary of the Taungthaman Bridge maintenance body.
The lake and bridge are among the most attractive tourist destinations in the Mandalay Region. The report states that both local and foreign visitor numbers have been increasing since 1 June.
“Since the water level in the Ayeyawady River is rising this season, many visitors come to enjoy boat rides on the lake. Thousands of travellers also visit the Taungthamanzal resort daily. More visitors are expected next month as the water level continues to rise. Visitors have to pay 20,000 kyat for a round trip by boat. Each boat can accommodate 11 passengers at a time. We invite you to visit here, as it is safe, secure, and peaceful,” said U Soe Win.
Most local tourists come from Mandalay, PyinOoLwin, Taunggyi, and Yangon to the Taungthaman Bridge and Lake, whereas most foreign visitors are Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean. — ASH/TMT
