Myanmar finalizes squad for AFC U-16 Championship

The Myanmar Football Federation has already selected the final squad of the Myanmar U-16 boys’ team ahead of the 2024 AFC U-16 Championship to be held in Indonesia from 21 June to 4 July.
The finalized team, led by Japanese head coach Mitami, consists of 23 players, including keeper Htet Wai Yan Zaw, defender Aung Thiha, midfielder Thaw Zin Ko, striker Khant Win Aung and skilful youth players.
All 12 member countries of the ASEAN Football Federation will compete in the AFC U-16 Championship, which is divided into three groups of four teams. Group A sees Indonesia (host), Laos, the Philippines and Singapore, while Group B features Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Brunei. Group C showcases Thailand, Malaysia, Timor-Leste and Australia.
Team Myanmar will play group matches against Cambodia on 22 June, Brunei on 25 June, and Vietnam on 28 June.
According to the format of the competition, the top team from each group and the best second-placed team will advance to the next round, resulting in a total of four semifinalists. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
