ME Cairo warns Myanmar nationals in Egypt to ensure stay permit in time

Myanmar nationals in Egypt will need to make sure validity of stay permit in time as penalties will follow if it is late, Myanmar Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt urged.

The embassy said in a statement that the General Authority of Passport, Immigration and Nationality already announced in January 2024 that foreigners living in Egypt would have to validate their stay permit during their stay there.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt has warned that all foreigners in Egypt shall make the application of resident card not later than 30 June 2024 at the General Authority of Passport, Immigration and Nationality, the statement said.

Therefore, of Myanmar nationals who have been living in Egypt on various reasons, those who haven’t received resident card or if it got expired, will need to make sure it by 30 June 2024, said the statement.

The statement said the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has notified that the Egypt government would commence actions from 30 September 2024 onwards, against foreigners who didn’t make resident card application, and those studying in Egypt will need to willingly accept having examined their resident card as well as student ID card issued by respective schools or universities.
