Plan underway to gild first circular decorative relief band at Uppatasanti Pagoda

According to the Pagoda Board of Trustees, the 3,485 square feet first circular decorative band of the Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw will be gilded with pure gold plates.
The cost of one square foot gold plate is set at K2.5 million but its actual cost including handicraft works is K3.134 million per plate. Donations have been received for gilding 2,318 square feet of the area for the third gilding, and those who wish to donate for the remaining area of 1,167 square feet can contact the Pagoda Board of Trustees.
The Uppatasanti Pagoda is located on the ridge, two miles and four furlongs northwest of Pyinmana. The pagoda stands at a height of 325 feet from the platform to the umbrella. — TWA/ TKO
