Seinpangon community-based tourism draws many domestic tourists

Among the villages that have developed community-based tourism in Madaya Township, Mandalay Region, Seinpangon Village experiences a large influx of domestic tourists.
Many tourists visit the village due to their interest in Myanmar handicrafts, including weaving, pottery, bamboo hats, cheroot, and shoes.
In order to develop community-based tourism, the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the Department of Fisheries, and the Irrawaddy Dolphin Conservation Society have cooperated since 2024.
The villages that are developing community-based tourism are Sinkyun, Ayekyun, Myayson, Seinpangon in Madaya Township, Myitkangyi in Singu Township, and Ywathitgyi Village, Tagaung Village and Shanemakar in Wetlet Township in Sagaing Region.
In the coordination meeting on the possibility of joint implementation held in Nay Pyi Taw on 5 June, the Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism stressed the selection of potential villages in various regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, to implement the One Tourist One Tree programme, as well as Community-Based Tourism (CBT), in coordination with relevant ministries. — TWA/TKO
