Rice, cash donated to 1,111 nuns in Yangon

A ceremony for Vietnamese well-wishers to donate cash and rice to 1,111 nuns took place at the Tooth Relic Pagoda in Yangon on the evening of 3 June.
Presiding Sayadaw of Tipitaka Gandawin Monastery Tipitakadhara Dhamma Bhandagarika Bhaddanta Varameinda Bhivamsa first administered the Five Precepts.
Yangon Region Social Affairs Minister U Htay Aung then donated K120 million to 45 Sayadaws and 1,111 nuns, and the Vietnamese well-wishers donated offertories to Sayadaws.
Vietnamese monk Bhaddanta Samadhahti expressed words of thanks, and U Win Maung Maung, a member of Rakkhita Swanarr Social Welfare Organization, expressed gratitude.
After the ceremonial procedures, they shared merits altogether.
Afterwards, the regional Social Affairs minister, members of the pagoda board of trustees, donors and Vietnamese well-wishers offered cash and rice to 1,111 nuns from 123 nunneries in Yangon Region. — Aung Myint (IPRD)/KTZH
