For Myanmar nationals living in Japan, the Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo issued a warning against natural disasters on 3 June.
It said a strong 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture at 6:31 am on 3 June 2024. No tsunami warning has been given so far. Therefore, Myanmar nationals living in that area need to pay special attention to announcements timely issued by the relevant authorities, it said.

A powerful quake also hit Ishikawa Prefecture on 1 June 2024, and as a result of the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued. Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo issued a natural disaster warning for Myanmar nationals on that day and advised Myanmar nationals living in the preference and quake-affected areas to pay special attention to authorities’ announcements and provided a hotline number for help, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. — MT/ZS/ED
