Supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illicit trading across the nation.
During inspections on 29 May, the Customs on-duty teams captured nine kinds of goods worth K241.935 million, including 5,894.064 square metres of clear float glass that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from 19 containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint. This enforcement was carried out according to the Custom Procedures.
On 29 May, the on-duty teams under the Magway Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force captured two unregistered motorbikes worth K700,000 at the Anawrahta checkpoint in Chauk township and an unregistered Luojia-110 motorbike (estimated value of K200,000) in Yenangyoung township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
On 31 May, the combined teams supervised by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized illegal teak weighing 1.877 tonnes, illegal hardwood weighing 0.6124 tonne and illegal other timbers weighing 0.872 tonne worth K1,136,304 in Toungoo and Pyay districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that six arrests were made on 29 and 31 May, with an estimated value of K243 million. — MNA/MKKS
