The Myanmar Embassy in Japan held a congratulatory ceremony for two Sayadaws in Japan who received religious titles for 2024, the embassy announced.

The ceremony was held at the Ayeyawady Hall of the embassy on 25 May for two Sayadaws– Most Ven. Dr. Shinkai   KORI, Chief High Priest of Nenbutsushu Sampozan Muryojuji Temple in Kato, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, and Bhaddanta Pannita of the Myanmar Monastery of Moji World Peace Pagoda, Kitakyushu, Japan – who were awarded religious titles for 2024 by the State Administration Council, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Attended at the ceremony were Ambassador U Soe Han and his wife, Military Attache (Army, Navy, Air Force) Major General Kyaw Tun, staff of the Myanmar Embassy and the Myanmar Military Attache Office, Myanmar guests, Buddhist well-wishers in Japan, other Theravada Buddhists from World Buddhist Supreme Conference, Nenbutsushu Sampozan Muryojuji Temple and the Vipassana Retreat, and Myanmar government scholars studying in Japan.

After reciting Namo Tassa three times by all and the Buddha’s attributes by Japanese monks, the ceremony was opened and the attendees observed five precepts in the presence of the Sayadaw Bhaddanta Nyarnotetara.

The Ambassador U Soe Han explained on the purpose of holding the ceremony and delivered words of thanks. Afterwards, the titles and insignia were conferred on Most Ven. Dr. Shinkai   KORI, who received the title of Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika title, and Sayadaw Bhaddanda Pannita, who received the title of Abhidhaja Agga Maha Kamatthana Cariya title, and the Sayadaws responded words of thanks.

After the formal recitations, the participants offered lunch and offertories to the Sayadaws.
