Kachin Chief Minister provides aid for IDPs returning home

The Kachin State chief minister met and provided support to internally displaced people (IDPs) at the St Joseph temporary shelter in Myitkyina Township on 16 May, who are set to return to their respective homes.
He promised to provide the necessary support and assistance during their relocation.
Additionally, the National Natural Disaster Management Committee provided 54 rice bags, Kachin State government 54 edible oil bottles, eggs, and instant noodles, and the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement rice for one month, K5.4 million in cash to help with relocation, and 16 rescue items for 337 people in 54 families who planned to relocate to Palana Village and 10th-Mile Village on their own.
Then, the chief minister proceeded to oversee the construction of bamboo houses for 30 families within a church’s land plot in Thazinmyaing Village, who are now taking shelter at a Theological Seminary in Jamaikaung Ward in Myitkyina.
The state government provided over K7 million and the Ethnic Affairs Minister K3 million for the construction of houses, latrines, and wells.
The Kachin State government has been working to resettle IDPs and close down temporary shelters while providing accommodation for IDPs fleeing armed conflicts in the region. — State IPRD/NT
