MoI Union Minister attends MRTV-Xinhua service agreement signing, meets musicians

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended the signing ceremony of the Service Provision Agreement between MRTV (Myanmar Radio and Television) and Xinhua News Agency in Yangon yesterday.
The Union minister first made an opening speech. U Ye Naing, Director-General of MRTV and Mr Li Kai, Deputy Director-General of Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau of Xinhua News Agency, signed the Service Provision Agreement.
The Xinhua News Agency, formally called Red China News Agency, was founded in 1931 and got its name in 1935. It is the official state news agency of the People’s Republic of China. It operates with 180 bureaus across the world in 2024, employing over 10,000 employees, and the agency offers news services in six languages in China and eight languages in international countries.
The Union minister then watched the Quiz Time programme of Myanmar International (MI) Channel at the Studio (A) of MRTV and the practice session of the State Orchestra and provided cash assistance.
He also inspected the filming of a talk show at Studio 1 to mark International Museum Day that will fall on 18 May. He met Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Daw Nu Mra Zan-led group that participates in that programme.
He then checked the preparations to record the Gatha recitation of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Vice-Chairman Presiding Sayadaw of Sasana Vepula of Meiktila Bhaddanta Kovida (Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja), to be broadcast on full moon day of Kason, at the Studio 2.
At noon, he met members of the Myanmar Music Association (Central), musicians and invitees to offer Music Academy Awards. During the meeting, the Union Minister urged the participants to give proper suggestions regarding the successful holding of the Myanmar Music Day event on 27 June and stressed the need to select the winners, award selecting system and other matters.
