Seoul hosts kick-off meeting to develop intl worker hotline, including Myanmar

A kick-off meeting to discuss matters pertaining to the launch of a hotline system for foreign workers, including those from Myanmar, who constitute the largest group of workers sent to the Republic of Korea, was held on 24 April in Seoul, the ROK, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The kick-off meeting was organized by the Korea Labour and Employment Service-KLES at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul, and Secretary General and CEO Dr Kim Dae Hwan of KLES gave the opening speech at the meeting.
The Myanmar ambassador to the Republic of Korea stated that Myanmar is one of the 16 countries that dispatch workers to South Korea through the EPS system. The Myanmar Embassy will participate in the implementation of the hotline system and collaborate with the Korean government and organizations.
The meeting was attended by ambassadors and heads of embassies from Bangladesh, Laos, Mongolia, Thailand, and Viet Nam, as well as the labour attachés from six countries, including Myanmar. — ASH/MKKS
