According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Russia has proposed to purchase finished Macadamia products from Myanmar.
Macadamia plantations are expanded in PyinOoLwin of Mandalay Region, Ywangan and Yaksawk of southern Shan State and Nawnghkio of northern Shan State in Myanmar.
Raw products of the Macadamia produced by Myanmar were primarily exported to China and Thailand. However, Russia proposed buying the finished Macadamia products during this harvesting time, according to the ministry.
The Macadamia nut is good for health because it has rich vitamins and minerals, anti-carcinogenic anti-oxidants, carbohydrates, fibres, and proteins. It also reduces cholesterol, and thus, it can prevent cardiovascular diseases. What is more, since the nut includes Omega 3, it is suitable for pregnant mothers, brain development in children, gastro-intestinal tract; it increases the child’s intelligence; and it also has anti-constipation, anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle effects. Macadamia powder can be used as a supplement food for infants above eight months. — TWA/TMT
