From 1 to 5 April, experts performed surgeries for 313 patients with eye diseases at Sitagu Eye Hospital, located near the Bailey Bridge in Dagon Myothit (North) Township, Yangon.
Since the programme’s inception in January 1993, this marks the fifth time patients have received treatment at the hospital. Prior to this round, a total of 6,124 eye patients had been examined, with 1,681 undergoing surgery, and 119 receiving laser treatment. With this latest session, the total number of surgeries performed has now surpassed 2,000.
Sitagu Sayadaw established approximately 50 eye hospitals nationwide, resulting in over 200,000 patients regaining their eyesight. — TWA/KZL
