False media reports mislead about security operations in Kachin State

Malicious media outlets have been spreading false news on social media, accusing security forces of attacking Mongka, Moeseinkyun, Sintkin and Kanni villages in Bhamo Township, Kachin State, and killing five residents since 7 March.
However, the reality is that security forces were conducting security operations along the Myitkyina-Bhamo road and came under attack from both KIA and PDF terrorists.
A local clarified that civilian casualties in Bhamo and surrounding villages were a result of terrorists’ shelling aimed at security forces.
Propaganda Facebook pages are circulating misinformation to sow discord towards security forces and stoke hate campaigns among the public. — MNA/NT
